We thank the authors for highlighting the finding of a fifth dengue serotype.(1) These findings are important for healthcare providers to monitor and adjust our clinical approaches appropriately.
In the meantime, clinical diagnosis continues to be our anchor in diagnosing dengue, while definitive tests are useful adjuncts for reducing clinical uncertainties.(2) Indeed, public health measures and vector control remain relevant cornerstone measures in this changing landscape.
